The ‘injury bug’ has bitten, and Yonsei has won two in a row, led by strong performances from Lee Min-seo and Lee Kyu-tae.
Yonsei won 74-50 against Sangmyung University in the 2023 KUSF College Basketball U-League at Yonsei University’s Sinchon Campus Gymnasium on Friday.
Despite facing the “injury bug” of losing Lee Ju-young and Lee Chae-hyung to long-term injuries, as well as Yoo Yoo-sang, Kang Ji-hoon, and Kim Bo-bae, Yonsei cruised to an easy victory over the outmatched Sangmyung University. With their second straight win, Yonsei remained in second place with a 10-1 record on the season.
Lee Min-seo (20 points, 3 rebounds, 5 assists) and Lee Kyu-tae (17 points, 10 rebounds) put on a two-man show, while Choi Hyung-chan (18 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists) also stood out.
In the first quarter, Yonsei took the lead. Lee Kyu-tae’s dunk and Lee Min-seo’s fastbreak layup set the tone, and Choi Hyung-chan, Kim Dowan, and Hong Sang-min added to the scoring. At the same time, Yonsei’s strong pressure defense, which recorded nine steals in the first quarter alone, forced Sangmyung University into a series of mistakes and ended the first quarter with an 18-9 lead.
Yonsei continued its dominance in the second quarter. The beginning of the quarter was not good. They gave up back-to-back three-pointers to Kwon Sun-woo and Choi Jung-hyun, signaling a shaky start. It was Lee Kyu-tae and Lee Min-seo who changed the tone. They combined for 19 points, including three three-pointers, to turn the tide in Yonsei’s favor. At the end of the first half, the score was 41-27 in favor of Yonsei.
In the second half, it was all Yonsei. Lee Kyu-tae made a spectacular dunk, and Lee Min-seo’s three-pointer rimmed out to keep the lead. With Kim Gun-woo’s supportive shooting at the end of the quarter, Yonsei ended the third quarter with a 57-44 lead.메이저놀이터
The fourth quarter was no different. Lee Kyu-tae’s mid-range shot hit the rim to maintain the lead, and Choi Hyung-chan and Kim Gun-woo’s consecutive baskets helped Yonsei drive a wedge into the game and secure the win.
Sangmyung University, on the other hand, was led by Kwon Soon-woo (25 points, 10 rebounds), but the team was unable to overcome the power differential and lost the game.
