Coach Troussier, who led Japanese soccer to victory in the Asian Cup in 2000, advanced to the final and finished runner-up at the 2001 Confederations Cup held the following year.
During the 2002 Korea-Japan World Cup, the Japanese national team he led beat Russia and Tunisia, drew with Belgium to advance to the round of 16, and then lost to Turkiye to fail in the quarterfinals.
As the Japanese national team performed well, Troussier, who was a 47-year-old young general at the time, also went up in price. Based on this, he was appointed to the prestigious French Olympique Marseille after passing through the Qatar national team.
However, he was unable to settle down on the French stage due to poor grades, and after that, he went through the Moroccan national team and Hangzhou Lucheng (China), and has been involved with Vietnamese football for several years.
Coach Park inherited the Vietnamese national team, which had been raised to the Asian level, and he was betting on the final game of his coaching career.
