It was the perfect comeback.
Guillermo Heredia (SSG Landers) batted 4-for-4 with a home run, three RBIs, and two runs scored against the Kiwoom Heroes in the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League at SSG Landers Field in Incheon on Tuesday.
The game marked Heredia’s comeback. Heredia was injured on March 3 against the Suwon KT Wiz. He was removed from the first team roster on the 4th due to a psoas injury. He was called up to the first team for the first game of a three-game series against Kiwoom on the 29th, but his return was pushed back a day due to rain.
Heredia had five at-bats in two games in the Futures League before his return. He went 2-for-5 with a double, a walk, a strikeout, and a run scored. He was then called up to the first team, where he showed a tremendous amount of power.
Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the first inning, Heredia stepped to the plate with runners on first and third in a seven-pitch battle with Ian McKinney. Heredia’s throw just missed shortstop Kim Hwijip’s height and landed in the outfield. Ha Jae-hoon followed with an RBI single to put SSG back on top.먹튀검증
Heredia led off the bottom of the third inning with a single to center field to make it 3-2. Park Sung-sung followed with a single to put runners on first and second and Ha Jae-hoon followed with a three-run home run. In the bottom of the fourth, Heredia again had a chance to score, as Choi Ji-hoon singled and Choi Jung walked to put runners on first and third. Heredia made a bold move on the first pitch, turning the bat and sending the ball to the outfield. She drove in a run with a sacrifice fly, extending SSG’s lead to 7-2.
In the bottom of the fifth, SSG’s bats came alive with two outs. Choo Shin-soo, Choi Ji-hoon, and Choi Jung hit consecutive singles. With runners on first and third, Heredia hit a line drive to left-center field for an RBI double. Park Sung and Ha Jae-hoon followed with back-to-back hits to extend the lead to 11-2.
SSG then scored five runs in the top of the sixth inning to cut into Kiwoom’s lead. Heredia was retired in order in the bottom of the seventh on a fly ball to right field.
SSG is now in third place with 60 wins, one tie and 47 losses. They are one game behind second-place KT. With 36 games remaining, Heredia’s return is good news. Since his first day back, he’s been on fire, revitalizing the SSG batting lineup. It will be interesting to see if Heredia’s performance can be a big boost in the final standings battle.
