SSG Landers owner Jeong Yong-jin made a surprise visit to the team during field training in Vero Beach, Florida, USA.
On the 12th (Korean time), SSG owner and vice chairman Jeong Yong-jin visited the Jackie Robinson Training Center in Vero Beach, Florida, USA. From the 1st of this month, SSG started preparing for the 2023 season here.
Owner Jeong Yong-jin, who visited the first overseas spring camp wearing a Landers uniform, toured camp facilities such as the clubhouse, weight room, treatment room, baseball field, and indoor practice field, and prepared a dinner party to encourage the hard work of the athletes and officials.
The ceremony was held in the order of CEO greetings, captain toast, and club owner’s encouragement. A total of 94 people attended, including the manager, coaching staff, and players, as well as the front desk of the club and officials from the local stadium. Vice Chairman Chung said, “This is my first overseas spring camp in the Landers uniform. I am happy to meet you all in the United States, and I am glad to welcome all new players and foreign players who have joined the team.”
He continued, “I looked around the training facilities for a while, and it turned out well. I hope we have a facility where we can focus only on training in a more systematic way like this place. The tenacity to train healthy and win without getting hurt and trust in each other is one thing. When I become better, I will surpass myself and Landers last year,” he encouraged. 안전놀이터
Captain Han Yu-seom said, “Thank you to the club owner for visiting and encouraging us all the way to the United States. The dinner and encouragement you prepared will motivate all players.” Park Jong-hoon said, “I think this is the first time the owner has come to the spring camp. Thank you for visiting from afar.” Lee Rowoon, a newcomer, expressed his feelings, “It was amazing and bewildered to see the owner for the first time. I was nervous at first, but I am grateful that he welcomed me and welcomed me.”
Owner Jeong Yong-jin is famous for being a gourmet. The menu for this dinner was also carefully considered. Meat and seafood such as lobster, prime rib, and LA galbi that can replenish stamina are prepared at the same time. Lobsters have to be caught in cold water to be fresh and tasty, so they chose Maine, which is close to Canada. Although it is 2561 km away, it was delivered directly from the farm. The team liked it so much that there was one player who ate 8 of them by himself.
It is hard to find a Korean restaurant in Vero Beach, the training ground. So, he went directly to nearby Atlanta and Orlando to airlift materials. Side dishes such as kimchi were sourced from Korea and made directly with the help of local Korean staff. Infielder Jeon Eui-san said, “I missed Korean food because I was living in the United States, but I was able to taste more delicious ribs and side dishes than in Korea. I am grateful to those who worked hard to prepare it.”
