Im Seong-jae (25), the ‘new groom’, expressed his determination, saying, “My goal is to spend this year steadily.”
Lim Seong-jae will participate in the PGA Tour Sentry Tournament of Champions (total prize money of $15 million) held at the Kapalua Plantation Course (par 73) in Maui, Hawaii, for four days from the 6th (Korean time). This tournament is a ‘King of Kings’ competition between the winners of last year’s PGA Tour and the players who competed in the Tour Championship in the final round of the season. Im Seong-jae did not win last year, but he qualified for this tournament by participating in the Tour Championship. It is his third consecutive appearance following 2021 and last year.
Im Seong-jae said in an interview prior to the tournament, “I have been participating for the third year. He was in the top 10 for two years스포츠토토. He seems to have done 5th place once and 8th place once,” he said. “I have good memories. It always feels good to come here. I like the scenery and the course. I hope he does well this year like he did the last two years because he’s going to play with both the winners and the Tour Championship qualifiers.”
Im Seong-jae, who got married last December, spent his honeymoon in Hawaii. In other words, he completed adaptation to Hawaii faster than others. Im Seong-jae said, “The competition was also in Hawaii, so I came in a little early and spent my honeymoon in Hawaii. I had a fun time seeing a lot of things to see in Honolulu and eating delicious food. In other ways, it motivates me to work harder.”
Starting with this tournament, the PGA Tour will continue the 2022-2023 season in earnest until the Tour Championship at the end of August. In the long journey of 8 months, what Lim Seong-jae values most is “steadiness”. Im Seong-jae said, “This year’s goal is also to participate in the Tour Championship. It was regrettable that I finished runner-up by one stroke last year,” he said. “My goal is to continue this year as I did for four years. I want to play well for a year without getting injured and maintaining my condition well. I want to do well in major tournaments as well.”
JTBC Golf & Sports will broadcast the first round of the Sentry Tournament of Champions, the first tournament of the PGA Tour New Year, in which Im Seong-jae will participate, starting at 6 am on the 6th.
