Darvish signed a six-year, $108 million extension with San Diego before the season. In 24 games this season, Darvish is 8-10 with a record of 136.2 innings pitched, 71 runs (69 earned) allowed, 51 walks, 141 strikeouts, a 4.56 ERA, and a 1.30 WHIP. Compared to last season, he’s underperforming. Last season, he was 16-8 in 30 games, 194⅔ innings, 67 runs (67 earned), 49 walks, 197 strikeouts, and a 3.10 ERA with a 0.95 WHIP.
In five August starts, Darvish was 3-3 with a 4.66 ERA, 4.66 WHIP and 1.34 WHIP in 29 innings pitched, 16 runs (15 earned), eight walks and 24 strikeouts.
