LG Twins outfielder Hong Chang-ki was touched for the first time in 97 games this season.
The LG Twins won their 15th game of the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League against the Kium Heroes 17-8 on Wednesday at Jamsil Baseball Stadium in Seoul to extend their winning streak to five games and improve to 61-2 and 35-1.
Hong Chang-ki, who set the table alongside Shin Min-jae, started in right field and fulfilled his role as leadoff hitter, going 2-for-4 with a home run, one RBI, two walks and four runs scored.
After reaching base on a walk in his first at-bat, he added another walk in the bottom of the second inning to complete his multi-hit performance, and he completely disrupted the Kiwoom infield with a double steal with Shin Min-jae at first and Lee Jae-won at third.
In the bottom of the sixth, Hong Chang-ki, who had his first hit in his fifth at-bat, added a home run in his final at-bat. He led off the bottom of the eighth inning and took advantage of a two-pitch forkball from Kiwoom’s Hong Sung-min for a solo arch over the right field fence. Even though the team already had a huge 16-8 lead, Hong celebrated the win with his first home run of the season.
After the game, Hong reflected on the home run, saying, “I was thinking about a changeup because the opposing pitcher, Hong Sung-min, has a good changeup, and I think I hit it well in front of the plate.” “I think the fans liked it more than I did, so I’m grateful,” he laughed.먹튀검증
“I wanted to hit a home run, but I tried not to think about it,” said Hong. I think the pitches that could have gone over became doubles or hits against the fence,” she said.
Aside from his home runs, Hong is at the top of every offensive metric. She’s on pace to win her first professional batting title. “Even though I didn’t have a home run, I think that being high in the offensive stats contributed to the team’s victory, and I was happy about that,” she said.
“I would like to thank the fans for coming today, and I hope they will stay with me until the end,” he said.
