The Houston Rockets add inside.
According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Houston will sign Willie Curley-Stein (center, 213cm, 109kg).
The deal is a 10-day deal, and Houston appears to have brought him in to keep it high for the time being.
Houston has been with Curley-Stein prior to the start of this season. Houston acquired him at the end of the preseason to fill the inside. It is because there is no experienced big man and he can add physical height right away. However, Houston released him before the season opener.
He was sluggish last season. He played primarily for the Dallas Mavericks, but did not appear in many games. He was often absent during the season for personal reasons. Ultimately, Dallas released him during the season. He appeared in 18 games for Dallas, averaging 1.9 points (.457 .500 .500) and 2.1 rebounds in 9.8 minutes per game. He played as a backup center at the beginning of the season, but returned and did not play a prominent role.
After his release, he was called up by the Philadelphia 76ers. Signed a 10-day contract with Philadelphia. However, he only appeared in two games, and he was not given a decent chance. Not only that, but his overall performance has also underperformed. He ended up failing to win his second 10-day contract and finished last season. His failure to play last season was the root of the problem.
After being released from Houston before the start of this season, he played in the G-League. He spent one season with the Houston affiliate Rio Grande Valley Vipers. He averaged 7.3 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.5 assists per season. However, he is unlikely to play immediately in Houston. Houston already has Alpharen Sengun in place, backed by Boban Marijanovic and Frank Kaminsky. 안전놀이터
But considering that Marijanovic and Kaminski haven’t played much, Curly-Stein deserves a chance. A lot of power is concentrated under the goal, but the fact that there is no one to entrust a lot of time to right now, except for Sen-gun, cannot be overlooked. It is understood that Curly-Stein has highly appreciated the fact that he can play a role in defense and mobility.
Meanwhile, Curley-Stein entered the NBA through the 2015 draft. Called up by the Sacramento Kings with the 6th pick in the first round, he spent four seasons in Sacramento but never signed an extension. After becoming a restricted free agent, he went through the Golden State Warriors and Dallas. In Dallas, he played a role going back and forth between the starting lineup and the bench, but he could not avoid the decline as the years went by.
