Anthony Alford (KT Wiz), who was on a seven-game hitting streak, has been replaced due to a sore toe.
Alford started in left field, batting third, against the KIA Tigers in the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League at KT Wiz Park in Suwon on April 22, but was removed after just one at-bat.
Alford came to the plate in the bottom of the first inning with runners on first and second. But Lee’s first-pitch curveball found Alford’s left foot. Alford complained of pain after being hit by the ball, and was eventually replaced by pinch-hitter Ahn Chi-young before exiting the dugout.
“Alford was hit on his left toe (third and fourth) by the ball and will be taken to a nearby hospital for a checkup,” a KT official said.먹튀검증
Alford has been hitting well of late, with a seven-game hitting streak. Last week, he batted .381 with eight hits, one home run, three doubles, five RBIs and a 1.054 OPS to help KT win its 10th consecutive series.
Meanwhile, KT took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning on RBI singles by Moon Sang-cheol and Hwang Jae-gyun as KIA’s offense was in full swing. KIA narrowed the gap to 2-1 in the top of the second inning with a run-scoring home run by Choi Hyung-woo.
